What is the difference between express and residential routes?

RTC offers different types of bus service to match how and where you’re traveling. Here’s what sets them apart:

Express routes

  • Designed for longer trips with fewer stops
  • Great for commuters and people traveling between major hubs
  • Use freeways and direct roads to save time
  • Examples: Centennial Express (CX), Westcliff Airport Express (WAX)

Residential routes

  • Serve local neighborhoods with more frequent stops
  • Good for shorter trips and everyday errands
  • Connect with transit centers, shopping areas, and schools
  • Examples: Route 103 (Decatur), Route 212 (Sunset)

💡 Tip: If you’re commuting or going across town, an express route might save you time. For shorter trips, a residential route is usually more convenient.
